The European Manufacturing Survey (EMS) is a network of European research institutions and universities in currently 21 European countries. It was initiated by the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research (ISI) from Germany.
The aim is to conduct research on current trends in technological and organizational modernization in the manufacturing industry in Europe. This provides an excellent and relevant database on aspects of manufacturing firms that have not been surveyed so far (highly recognized by the scientific community) and the joint acquisition of research projects.
The network has been growing since 2001 due to mentoring relationships and specific national interest. Previous surveys were conducted in 2001, 2003, 2006, 2009, 2012, 2015, 2018 and 2022.
